Our politically independent magazine for European security and defence policy was established in 2008 and addresses the European security community as well as everybody who is interested in European citizenship, security and defence matters and international politics.
Our authors are personalities from global politics, parliaments of EU Member States and the European Parliament, European institutions, United Nations Organisations, NGOs, academia, think tanks, military and industry experts. They contribute their views and expertise on a wide variety of subjects with political, societal or economic impact.
We have succeeded with our quarterly magazine in creating a veritable platform for community building among authors and readers, from Europe and beyond, combining, since the first edition in 2008, the various civil, military and community aspects of security and defence policy. Not always without heated debate.
Our main focus of attention is the European Union and European and international security and defence issues, but we also cover climate change and new energies, migration and refugee policy or Europe’s contribution to our ‘digital age’. We are convinced that we need a stronger Europe in the world.
In 2011, the magazine received the first European Award for citizenship, security and defence under the patronage of the President of the European Union. It was awarded at a plenary parliamentarian session of the Western European Union in Paris on 9th May 2011 by its President, Robert Walter.
In 2019, the editorial team of the magazine was awarded the Special Jury Prize of the same association for outstanding journalism, enabling European citizens to better understand Europe. The prize was handed over by the former Vice-President of the European Parliament, Ioan Mircea Pașcu, on 26th November 2019 in Berlin.
